Growing up in a military family, Nancy Kuemmerlein spent her childhood on three continents. After spending her senior year in high school as a foreign exchange student to Norway, Nancy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature from the
University of Kansas, studying with Professors John Senior, Dennis Quinn and Frank Nelick of the Integrated Humanities Program. She and her husband homeschooled their five children using the Kolbe curriculum, and later she began offering Humanities seminars to the homeschooling community through her Collegium program. Nancy completed docent training at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in 2020 and joined the teaching staff of St. Athanasius/St. Catherine Academy in 2022. She then earned the Master of Studies in Literature and Arts at Oxford University where she researched the poetry of Fr. Gerard Manley Hopkins, S.J. When not leading school groups through the Nelson-Atkins Museum, Nancy enjoys leading Academy students through lively discussions of the great literary works of the Western tradition.
